We have held two very successful African Evenings in 2005 and 2007.
They were very much enjoyed by both local people and visitors to the village.

We had a table selling beautiful jewellery at our second event.
This raised £100 to add to our profits.

The drummer
Meet Sam, from Sierra Leone. He ran the drumming workshop in the afternoon and entertained us in the evening.
The Storyteller
The Storyteller, Joy, was on holiday in Youlgrave and volunteered her services, which was great!
Afternoon drumming workshop
The drumming workshop was enjoyed by young and old alike.
Sammy and Jariatu
Sammy is a Methodist Minister who works for SLYEO. He is based in Freetown, Sierra Leone. He has been good enough to oversee our projects, report back to us on a regular basis and give us useful advice and guidance.
He played the drums for us on our first African evening and was accompanied by Jariatu. She belongs to One World Link, another charity working in Sierra Leone.
